I bought some anyway, although some of the appeal was gone. And I have to say, they ended up not being nearly as good as they used to be! Something about the texture was different...
I can't really explain it, but with the shapes, they would absorb the milk in a certain way and the texture would make the taste better! I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, but that was part of Trix's appeal to me.
So, sorry Trix, but whoever made the decision to take away the grape, lemon, blueberry, etc. shapes... you lost a customer.

And since I'm on the topic of cereal-- for a really short period of time, Fruity Pebbles released a Fruity Pebbles cereal with marshmallows! I love fruity pebbles, and I love cereal with marshmallows, so I of course loved the Fruity Pebbles with marshmallows!
So one day, I walked down the cereal isle, heading towards the exact spot on the shelf for my beloved cereal only to be sadly disappointed to see that they weren't there. And since then, I have never seen them again.
And recently, the Fruity Pebbles with Bedrock Berry Pink has been released... and personally, marshmallows seem a lot better to me than a new colored fruity pebble.

Hmmm. This is very interesting. Trix may not suffer after all because when they lost you as a customer they gained me back! Haha. When they came out with those shapes I remember being upset that the texture had changed and was much harder. I complained and complained to Dax. Not long ago I noticed the balls were back and I have thus renewed my interest in Trix. p.s. I never saw those Fruity Pebbles. This makes me want to do a cereal review on my blog : )
I don't like it when restaurants and food companies make "limited edition" versions of things. They always end up being really good, and just when you start to get hooked on them they take them away from you. Rubbish.
Trix changed to balls several several years ago! Where have you been! Haha
Here is your answer:
Trix cereal itself has changed very little over the years. In 1992 they replaced the round ball shaped cereal with fruit shaped. Although the cereal was shaped and colored to resemble grapes, watermelons, banannas, lemons, oranges, and raspberries… they all tasted the same. In 2006 they reverted back to the ball shaped cereal, proclaiming them “pinball” shaped.
